AOKI takamasa
[op.disc / commmons / fatcat records / cirque / PROGRESSIVE FOrM]
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1976, AOKI takamasa currently resides in Berlin, Germany. Since the release of his first album "SILICOM" in early 2001, the up-and-coming musician has centered his activities on creating computer and software-based works and has always explored his methodologies in a calm and collected way to expand the realm of his unique music sphere.

In recent years, he has expanded his activities further, doing the vocals for his pieces himself, releasing an album in collaboration with Tujiko Noriko from Fat Cat Records, taking on the challenge of minimal tracks with 4/4 rhythms with the label op.disc, providing a cover of the Beatles "I Will" for the British BBC radio program One World, and getting involved in a joint production with contemporary dancers and video artists at YCAM. However, his significant presence in expressing himself always remains firm and unwavering. In his seemingly extreme style, in which he ambitiously experiments with various expressive techniques and software/hardware, driving the CPU to the utmost limits, there is always a rhythm and groove. This comes from his profound and passionate curiosity and respect towards the most fundamental aspect of artistic expression, in other words, music. This is exactly what makes the music created by the outstanding artist Aoki takamasa even more fascinating.

His live performances, which he has passionately pursued and considers to be just as crucial as his creative works, have been highly acclaimed both at home and abroad, and the quality and intensity of his work continues to evolve with each passing year. Nowadays, a large number of artists perform live by using computers, and most of them end up relying on the computer's mere functional convenience. In contrast, AOKI takamasa keeps asking himself "why he needs to use computers" and "what he can do only with computers" in a calm and collected way, and always poses this question to himself in his live acts.
