BOREDOMS (V∞REDOMS)
Formed in 1986, led by Yamataka EY∃.
From the beginning, they had an experimental approach and clearly stood out from the crowd.
In 1988, they co-starred with Sonic Youth, a pioneering group in the NY underground scene at the time, at a performance in Japan. BOREDOMS' performance left them in awe, propelling their name to fame in America.
In 1988, they released their first album "Onanie Bomb Meets the Sex Pistols" from the indie label "Selfish."
In 1989, the second album "Soul Discharge '99" was released and the group started getting extremely popular in Japan.
In 1992, the group released their third album "POP TATARI" from major label WEA and took the Japanese music industry by storm.
Although it could not be said that society readily understood and accepted the music of the stereotype-smashing BOREDOMS, the group released their album "POP TATARI" in America from the label Warner Brothers following their America tour of 1993. In the same year, they released "WOW2."
The 5th album "CHOCOLATE SYNTHESIZER" seduced many young people with its philosophically primitive sound and free expression that refused to be boxed into the small confines of rock, earning the praise of many a musician.
After that, they continued pouring energy into their foreign and domestic activities, creating a series out of their spiritually-charged experiment "SUPER ROOTS" and continued venturing into new territory.
In 1998, they announced their historic masterpiece "SUPER ARE". In the following year of 1999, they released “VISION CREATION NEWSUN," paving their road to the "sun."
In 2001, the group said they would reform as V∞REDOMS and perform on stage in a circle of 3 drums and a DJ. Meanwhile, they continued performing at Fuji Rock Festival and various festivals in Japan and abroad.
In 2004, the group released the album "SEADRUM / HOUSE OF SUN." Even after nearly 20 years, BOREDOMS continues tenaciously as ever, taking existing music and pop culture, chewing and digesting it to transform it into something new, shocking, and beautiful.
