Taeko Onuki

Tokyo-born singer and songwriter.
In 1973, formed the group Sugar Babe with Tatsuro Yamashita.
Released "Songs," the first urban pop album in Japan in 1975, but disbanded in 1976. In the same year, made her solo debut with the album "Gray Skies." Since then, released 26 original albums. Is a trailblazer among female singers and songwriters in Japanese pop music. Has hypnotized many a fan with her unique but delicate musical style and her pure voice.
Released a number of timeless masterpiece albums in Japanese pop: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Kenji Omura joined for her first hit albums "Romantique" and "Cliche", long-time session partner and pianist Febian Reza Pane joined for "Pure Acoustic," and in 1992, released "DRAWING" featuring Takeshi Kobayashi, an up-and-coming musician of that era.
In addition, has visited all six continents including Antarctica for recording music and videos. Penned her travels in a travel memoir and her daily thoughts in various essays, earning her raving reviews as a writer.
Is an outspoken advocate on familiar topics such as environment, energy, and food issues. Is also a promoter of Oriental medicine in healthcare and the cultivation of rice.
