Ryuichi Sakamoto and kotringo composed and performed music for a documentary film "LIGHT UP NIPPON".
The film had its market premier in Cannes. It will be screened at online cinema called theatre tokyo from 30/6 to 6/7 , prior to its general screening in Japan which starts on 7/7 SAT.
In additioin, the film's DVD will be available at cinemas during its screening. DVD rental exclusive to TSUTAYA / TSUTAYA DISCAS also starts on 7/7.
The proceeds from the film will be donated to "LIGHT UP NIPPON" to launch fireworks in Tohoku 11/8 this Summer.
<Concept of LIGHT UP NIPPON>
LIGHT UP NIPPON (hereafter LUN) wishes to make this an opportunity for the
unfortunate victims of tsunami and earthquake that took place on the 11th of March
, 2011 to take their first step towards carrying on with their normal
lives.
Although the sadness and sufferings of the victims affected are beyond
our imagination, it is a fact that after any perseverance of simply
"living", there is always hope and happiness at the end.
LUN would like to make this an opportunity for us to reassure something as easy as this which we all knew.
This is why LUN would like to have firework performances along the Pacific coast of Japan to remind everyone of the original meaning the fireworks hold; a memorial to the victims and relief.
