*The following is a compilation of the dialogue between the radio program "DAISY HOLIDAY" where Haruomi Hosono is a DJ and the related event "Daisy World Gathering".
Hosono: I haven't met Goro ITO kun for the first time.
Ito: Yes, let's do a live together.
Hosono: Last month, there was an annual daisy holiday gathering in Cay, Aoyama. Recently I finally started listening to Bossa Nova. Can you write a song called "O Sapo" by Joan Gilberto? I was secretly thinking. Then, Mr. Ren Takada said, "Gorrow is amazing." And I felt really good when I did it last month.
Ito: (Feeling) It was good. The person who listened also said, "Wow!"
Hosono: By the way, when did Goro-kun start playing bossa nova?
Ito: It's surprisingly shallow, and I'm in my late twenties. Since I was a junior high school student, I always listened to it. My dad had a record with Joanne (and Gilberto), so I was booming alone. I wrote a catch phrase for each of my junior high school graduation albums, and even said, "Please give me a catch phrase called "Bossa Nova"." However, I thought I would do it about 30 minutes ago.
Hosono: I've always avoided bossa nova. The reason is that Stan Getz has spread too much in Bossa Nova, making it inaccessible. I had a strong image of Dabadabada, so I thought I would never do it myself.
Ito: Certainly Stan Getz is an album that is loud and hard to hear.
Hosono: But suddenly I dreamed of Louis Bonfa a few years ago. For some reason I was riding a horse and the "friend" I was with said to me, "Louis Bonfa is nice". Remember that dream all the time. I don't remember if it was late last year or last year, but when I bought his CD and listened to it, it was really good. Then, a friend I met after a long time said, "Why don't you do bossa nova?" When I saw the credits, I was surprised to see the double "Samborero" by Luis Bonfa. I was getting caught up in Bossa Nova about what this attack was!? (laughs).
Ito: It was the announcement of Luis Bonfa.
Hosono: That may be true.
Ito: I also wonder who was the "friend" when I was riding the horse.
Hosono: Is it Gilberto?
Ito: Maybe (laughs). Bonfa and Joanne have been close friends for a long time. Joan (the work of us) respects each other so much that there is an instrumental piece called "Dedicated to Bonfa".
Hosono: Yup. Then listen to Bonfa. Of course, listen to Gilberto in honor. I still listen to Joan Gilberto and Louis Bonfa because I think they are special.
Ito: It's already the origin.
Dialogue at the Daisy World Gathering
Hosono: The sound of "Bossa Nova Songbook 2" that comes out this time is already in Brazil. It's not the sound of Tokyo.
Ito: I listened again and thought so. Is it a sound image? It's not Japan.
Hosono: You recorded for the first time in Brazil, right? After all the air is different.
Ito: I don't think so. Brazilians did the drums, bass and piano for the performance.
Hosono: Have you been to Brazil even before that?
Ito: No, this was my second time to go to Brazil. There is a Brazilian artist called Mario Azine who does Arisa Ono's arrangements, but I like his sound and I want to record with musicians around Mario Azine. The studio was the same as Mario Azine, I did an old-style recording where I wanted to set up a partition in a large booth. I will release an original album in the fall, so I will record 24 songs in total for two.
Hosono: How many days did you do it?
Ito: Basic is 5 days. After that, 24 guitar dubbing and 20 vocals. All the mix and mastering came in Rio (laughs).
Hosono: Amazing! That's why it sounds like this. You also have Ryuichi Sakamoto piano, but in Brazil too?
Ito: I recorded this in Japan before I went to Brazil, brought it to Rio and recorded it with drums and bass. When you listen to them side by side, the professor's piano is amazing. Very bossa nova. It's more of a Jobin'ism than a Brazilian performance.
Hosono: Well, maybe the root is bossa nova (laughs).
Ito: It may be so.
Mr. Hosono who appeared with the eyebrows of the opening and movie critic late Mr. Nagaharu Yodogawa.
Hosono: What do you think of the Brazilian music scene these days? Are you active?
Ito: By the way, it seems that young people didn't look at Bossa Nova, it was like old music. Recently I listened to bossa nova as a cool thing. Or rather, "old school". In addition to Bossa Nova, listening to samba and old choruses has become a boom, and it's very popular for us to do our own.
Hosono: That's a good thing.
Ito: Grandpa and young people do a show together at home. That kind of thing is wonderful, it's about playing music together for generations.
Hosono: That's what music is good for. Even if I travel around Europe, I often see grandpa and grandma dancing. I'm jealous.
Ito: I agree. Even when Bossa Nova was born in Brazil, I made albums with people from generations before Bossa Nova. A person before Bossa Nova called Drival Kaimi sang a song of the sea vividly with (Antonio Carlos) Jobim.
Hosono: After all, everyone is respectful.
Ito: I agree.
Hosono: I like that kind of relationship. Well, I'm a grandpa too soon (laughs). I wish I could teach young people and do things like that from now on.
Ito: I want you to do that.

"Corcovado Hill Sneakers" Pin Badge
Goro ITO It is a pin batch that he designed himself.
This album was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from recording to mixing and mastering.
I saw Corcovado Hill every day while I was in Rio. Corcovado has a huge statue of Christ that can be seen from anywhere in the city of Rio. I couldn't actually go because I had no time, but Naomi-chan has climbed. At that time, a photo taken by Naomi from Corcovado was used for the back jacket of "Bossa Nova Songbook 2".
I made a pin badge to commemorate the release, so I thought that it could be worn by a man, so I drew a corcovado on the sneakers.
JOAO GILBERT
Joanne Gilbert Reader”
Last year, a phantom item that had been kept in storage due to the cancellation of the performance appeared while being produced as a pamphlet for Joan Gilberto's performance in Japan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bossa Nova's birth!
This is a must-have book for Joan fans, composed of contributions from Kenji Tsuchiya, Michiko Shimizu, Taeko Onuki and other celebrities who love Joan.
After the conversation,
Joan Gilbert's "O SAPO" session.
It was the first bossa nova playing experience for Mr. Hosono.
